Brice Randall Bickford isn’t Struggling Anymore
With all those music channels you can get through Direct tv deals and the enormous library iTunes boasts, it’s amazing that more people don’t know about the Strugglers. Which is why it’s really not going to mean too much to too many people reading this that they changed their name to Brice Randall Bickford.
To this day, leader and songwriter Brice really doesn’t understand himself why he named the entire band after himself. He hints, in interviews, that The Strugglers had become a misnomer as they no longer felt like they were struggling for notoriety or creativity, but much remains a mystery.
What is especially mysterious, however, is that the name change seems to correlate with the release of their best record yet. Many fans attach a superstitious admiration to this strange turn of events. That – by casting aside the shackles of their old name – their creative spirits were somehow freed.
While Bickford claims that it was far from a cakewalk to produce this album, there’s no denying that it is their best one yet. And, as far as this fan is concerned, if changing their name means better music, they can call themselves something different for each release for all we care.
While the name might change – the quality and the genius hopefully won’t.
